In the early months of 2004, long before the age of social media dominance, a young and visionary dentist—Dr. Syed Nabeel—sat in his modest first clinic, Smile Maker, during quiet hours between patients, pondering the power of connection. What if dentists across the world, separated by borders but united by purpose, could share knowledge freely, learn together, and grow as one? From this simple yet profound thought, DentistryUnited.com was born.
At a time when professional networking was limited to platforms like Yahoo Groups, Dr. Nabeel created one of India’s first dedicated websites for dentists. The goal was clear: to offer a space where clinical cases could be discussed openly, career guidance could be given generously, and camaraderie could flourish across continents. The name “DentistryUnited” itself came to him as a reflection of this founding philosophy—a digital home for a united profession.
What began as a hobby from a small dental chair has today evolved into a global movement. Our online community, which grew organically through Yahoo Groups and later expanded via Facebook, now comprises more than 40,000 dentists connected through groups, pages, and professional forums. With members and readers in every country, we are humbled by the trust and warmth of a truly global subscriber base.
In 2006, Dr. Nabeel’s commitment to democratizing dental knowledge led to the launch of Dental Follicle – The E Journal of Dentistry (ISSN 2230 – 9489). Initially crafted in his spare time, this e-journal evolved into a respected publication where dental thought could find free expression. True to our ethos, we have never charged our readers—not for access, not for wisdom. Every article, every discussion, every shared insight has been given freely, in the spirit of learning without boundaries.
Dr. Nabeel, a clinician, speaker, and collaborator at heart, continues to believe that real progress in dentistry happens when minds meet without walls.
